By Tangerine ClarkeKittitian-American Eversley Liburd's passion for fashion, and his exuberance to give emerging designers a space to showcasing their creations, was realized in fine form at the launch of Fabulous Fashions Weekend, in Harlem.
Ron Cooke hosted the fashion forward event on April 15 at the Hip Hop Culture Center - Magic Johnson Theatre that stands in the shadow of the Apollo Theatre, where great style first started. read more.

Mark McDermoth
Mark McDermoth, Fashion Designer and Tourism marketer was born in Portland and attended Happy Grove High School where he was Deputy Head Boy. He also attended Hocking College in Ohio, where he studied Hotel/Restaurant Management and Nova University where he pursued a Bachelors Degree in Professional Management.
He lists as his accomplishments, meeting and working with some of the world's most celebrated and influential individuals, including, original Bond girl, Ursula Andress, South African President Thabo Mbeki, Miss World Chairman Julia Morley, film star Denzel Washington (for whom Mark was his "Stand-in" in the movie, "The Mighty Quinn" and music giants Mary J Blige, Kenneth "Baby Face" Edmonds and Chaka Chan, among others.
He is Piscean, loves traveling and is on a quest to visit all the continents. His long-term ambition is to create a skills training centre in rural Jamaica to impart life skills to needy young people.

Karl Williams
Fashion Designer and entertainer Karl Williams started in entertainment as a triple threat. He was a singer/dancer/model and he excelled in all the disciplines, receiving international exposure in all areas. As the years progressed, he became more interested in the design and construction side of the fashion industry and eventually switched full time. He now heads the Jamaica operations of Uzuri International Designs and performs regularly on Jamaica's North Coast and overseas with the Uzuri Cabaret Ensemble.
In 2008, he was invited to South Africa to outfit the Miss World contestants in the opening segment and lists that as one of his most exciting trips, walking in the footsteps of Mandela, Working with Mrs Julia Morley, Miss World 2007 and all the contestants. He also lists as highlights to his career, working with Grace Jones, Jasmin Guy and Chakka Khan.
He is Leo, easy going and fun loving.

The designers blend the colourful, free-spirited lifestyle flavours of the Caribbean with the international appeal of high fashion, infusing their larger than life sensibility into every piece created under the Uzuri label.
They are famous for utilizing feathers, crystals, luxurious fabrics and sweeping hemlines, but have become infamous in their native Jamaica for sinfully sexy cuts, seductive silhouettes, and serious thigh-high slits, which their worldwide fans have just discovered and can't seem to get enough of! Clients range from international film and music stars, politicians, socialite brides, to prom princesses, beauty queens, super models and just the girl or guy next door. The designers have recently been named by Pulse Limited, Master Designers and Global Beauties declared the evening gown they designed for Miss Jamaica World, Yendi Phillips, The Most Beautiful Evening Gown in all the international beauty pageants for 2007.
they also created history in 2008 when Miss World Chairman, Julia Morley invited them to the Miss World Coronation in South Africa as guest designers to outfit all 112 contestants in a special post opening musical segment, a first for any Caribbean based design house!
Uzuri's exciting new resort line is entitled Jamaica Royale, a celebration of luxury island style, featuring a unique and surprising combination of the old-world charm & grandeur of the plantation gentry, with the free-spirited artisan allure of the peasant class, all with a fresh, breezy, whimsical modern-day a esthetic.

What was commissioned initially as a New Year's Eve entertainment project for a specific Jamaican all-inclusive hotel, has today blossomed into a formidable performing arts force, which not only sings and dances its way into the hearts of its audiences, but always leaves a message of goodwill and a lesson on the evolution of the "Jamaican sound."
Uzuri Cabaret Ensemble was established in 1994 and the group's main repertoire, "Rhythm's Jamaica," gives a fresh and exciting account of Jamaican music's transformation in song and dance from its formative African roots to today's modern standards, with Soca and Latin elements creatively infused to reflect the authentic progression of the island's rhythms and all presented in grand Las Vegas style.
The ensemble received the Jamaica Federation of Musicians "Best Cabaret Group" award in 1998 and 2000 and performed at the wedding of Jesse Jackson Jr; the opening of Beaches Turks and Caicos; the James Bond Film Festival - alongside Grace Jones and Ursula Andres - as well as numerous other events both locally and abroad.
They are standard at most of Jamaica's North Coast hotels and are available for weddings, corporate launches, parties and retreats, training sessions and music videos.
